Abstract
Objectives: Cheilitis simplex is a disease that causes chapped lips, bleeding, and pain. The treatment of cheilitis simplex is mainly performed symptomatic treatment through moisturizing agents. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of an adhesive hyaluronic acid film that has moisturizing and wound healing effects in cheilitis simplex.

Materials and Methods: The hyaluronic acid film used in this study becomes adhesive when it comes into contact with moisture. Therefore, it was applied after spraying saline to the area of cheilitis simplex, and it was attached by lightly pressing it for more than 6 seconds. Satisfaction survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires to each of 20 patients and their guardians. The questionnaire for patients included a total of 5 questions and the questionnaire for guardians included 4 questions.

Results: As a result of the survey on the patients, satisfaction was high in terms of healing and pain reduction for cheilitis simplex. However, there were more negative responses when comparing the texture and discomfort with existing moisturizers. As a result of the survey on guardians, satisfaction was also high in terms of healing and pain reduction for simple stomatitis. However, there were more negative responses when comparing the texture and discomfort with existing moisturizers.

Conclusion: Within the limits of this study, it can be inferred that the adhesive hyaluronic acid film will reduce the symptoms and pain of cheilitis simplex, which patients or guardians could feel. However, it is considered that the properties of the material need to be changed in terms of texture and discomfort compared to the existing moisturizing agents used for symptomatic treatment.
